Happy birthday, Ange~ Will you come over for dinner tonight? We can have a little party just like we used to. Well, not quite the same seeing as your father isn't around, but we all know the highlight is having Battler there anyway.
I want to make up for our absence, in some small way.

I'm extending an open invitation to any of Ange's friends as well. I'll be making dinner as well as dessert and you're welcome to stay as little or long as you like. The only condition is, please keep it a secret from Ange, I want it to be a surprise.

You didn't think you would get away with meeting a 'sweet' woman, did you?

[Rudolf is more than slightly afraid of her...]

It's a little strange, if I didn't know better I might have to think we're parrallel versions or something [She laughs]

A man can hope, right? [He doesn't know her well enough to be afraid of her yet, but right now she looks positively kittenish compared to a Fujiko donned in her camo with both of her Thompson machine guns mowing down enemies without hesitation.]

...You know? I've noticed the same thing with a few other people. There's a man here from a completely different world, but he's frighteningly similar to my rival of twenty years. It's pretty amazing!

[That's exactly the plan, to be the person you least suspect. When she does get going, she's a little more...uh, psychotic about it.]

Really? I haven't seen much of that yet, I would say this is the first.

Really now? Must be newer here than I am. Been here since last November, and these little coincidences are starting to feel kinda normal. Sadly.

Yes, I am, it's been...since January, still not too great a difference. Then again, the sort of people I know are not all too common. I did meet someone who shares quite a few similarities in his life as in mine, as well as ironic differences. But that's about it.

Funny how that works out, huh? It's kinda like the guy who's similar to my rival--we're actually okay friends because I resemble his rival a little too. Even stranger is how his girlfriend is similar to mine.

[There's a chuckle at this.] And he says I'm bent! It does make you wonder a little about the Malnosso though. Maybe they have a very strange sense of humor or something, if so many similar people end up in a bubble together.

They must just like people like you.

I'm surprised there are that many similar couples. And here I thought we were one of a kind, too bad...

Kyrie-chan. Even the brightest, most beautiful diamond you've seen in the mines probably has one similar just a few caves over. We're from different places, but maybe happenstance made events fall similarly.

We're never really going to know, though. This entire situation is too complex.

[She laughs] No, no, I know that! But...if you're really so similar to Rudolf...well, I feel a little sorry for your girlfriend. Any woman involved with someone like that.

You know? Fujiko says the same thing all the time!

I think I feel a deep connection with her already. Goodlooking men are the worst.

Beautiful women are just as bad, you know. How else could they get men to foolishly lay down their lives otherwise?

[That gets to her just a bit - her husband originally married another woman due to her feminine wiles, that's what it was in Kyrie's mind, anyway.]

Women who are beautiful and nothing else, perhaps. But those with some brains can catch a man with a bit more tact.

Probably, but there is a matter of faith involved too. I don't think I could be with a different kind of woman because I like the challenge and knowing that her heart trusts me even when she points a gun at me.

She points a gun at you? We tend to shoot together, not at eachother.

Our relationship is pretty complicated, but we just don't work well with other people either! Frankly, I like the fact that she's so unpredictable. It keeps life interesting.

It sounds pretty glamourous. [Giggle]

Is it? I just see it as pretty damn fun!

It is, I miss running around like that, but, well, now we're being domestic. I'm a little jealous.

Haha~ You have a lot of things to be jealous of yourself--a beautiful family, a handsome husband. While it's not my first choice, it looks like you have a ton of fun too.

I'll let you in on a secret - neither of us were interested in having children either, but they do grow on you once you have them.

Hah. Seeing how many people end up having them? They probably do.

[Unfortunately, he just couldn't see himself settling down and having children anytime with anyone, even with his Fujiko. The adventure was too much of a draw.]

Oh, that's because most people want to in the first place. We had that sort of selfish lifestyle you shouldn't bring kids into even if you do want them. That's why I'm a little jealous, you get to keep it. But accidents happen, you should watch out.

With my girl and I? We'll be careful--it might not be so bad, but neither of us are really in a good position for it. We both love our little games way too much.
