Happy birthday, Ange~ Will you come over for dinner tonight? We can have a little party just like we used to.  Well, not quite the same seeing as your father isn't around, but we all know the highlight is having Battler there anyway.
I want to make up for our absence, in some small way.

I'm extending an open invitation to any of Ange's friends as well.  I'll be making dinner as well as dessert and you're welcome to stay as little or long as you like.  The only condition is, please keep it a secret from Ange, I want it to be a surprise.

Yeah! But I have people I call my big bros and sisters from my world - some of them are here, too! So I kinda have even more family, even though there's only three of us in our old house!

How big is your family then - do they live with you here? It must be nice to have so many people you're so close with.

Four of us live in a house right now - my mama, papa, and then my big sister! She's a really cool mechanic; she can even make arms and legs for people, if they need them.

Artificial body parts? That's very impressive! People haven't figured out how to make those very well in my time. You're lucky to have someone so smart for a big sister, you're sure to be a very smart women as well!

That's true. Except in this place. With all the goings and comings you basically get to meet new people for sure every two months, just from listening to the journals.

[He chuckles a bit.]

But then even meeting new people becomes a sort of routine.

That's right, you have to become a part of a welcoming committee.

Oh, but I'm sure you're very smart already, and if you have two people to help teach you, then you'll definitely be just like them, right?

There's the Welcome Center for that though. Or do you mean that we should join there?

Oh no, just that everyone ends up welcoming new arrivals.

Maybe we should tell them to go away for a change?

[Nah, that would be mean besides they wouldn't be able to do it so...]
